Last year for my summer holidays I spent a week in Peniche.
I had heard so much about the place but it was the first time I had actually visited.
Peniche is a coastal town an hour's drive north of Lisbon.
I camped at a local campsite and had an amazing time. There is something for everyone: beaches, sightseeing, restaurants…
For people who love to surf, Peniche is one of the best surfing locations in Europe. It has many surf camps & schools and annually hosts a number of championships.
My favourite part of the trip was going to the
Berlengas islands. I caught a ferryboat in Peniche and spent the day on a beautiful sandy beach. A lot of people spend days here swimming in the crystal clear waters.
To discover the entire island you can take two different trails.
I went on a trail that led me to an amazing lighthouse and I also visited the Fort of São João Baptista das Berlengas.
After a week in Peniche I felt relaxed and happy. It was certainly an experience I would never forget. The pictures speak for themselves.
