Evora, The silent town

At Evora station, I stay still, surprised by the absence of human activity.

Only a duo of backpackers get in the taxi in front of the station. The car starts. No other movement.

The first street is deserted, I can hear very clearly the birds and the wind's sound blowing in the tree branches.Arriving in the middle of town, still  nobody, only pavements and yellow borders of houses. My camera in hand, I'm waiting slowly for a shape to appear, I trigger once.

In the street,
Nobody anywhere
Just this bike laid here.

At a crossroads, on a large square I discover a Skeleton of a roman temple in the historic center of Evora. The roman temple of Evora or "Temple of Diana" was included in the classification by UNESCO as a world heritage site. Dating from the 2nd century, it represents one of the most significant landmarks relating to the Roman civilizations in Portugal.

For evening, I take my dinner in A Choupana (R. dos Mercadores 20, 7000-661 Évora, Portugal)
Sitting at the bar between a Irish couple and a Portuguese lady, the server advises me of a typical meal of the area, composed of fresh vegetables and melting meats with bread. Simple but delicious.

So if you are interested to discover a raw Portugal town without tourists you must go to Evora, walking in the streets, talking to locals and eating generous meals.
